NOTICE OF RACE

 1.  RULES The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 , the prescriptions of the US Sailing Association, the rules of participating classes, and the rules of FCSA, except as any of the foregoing are altered by the this notice and by the Sailing Instructions.

 2.  ADVERTISING The regatta is classified as a Category "B" Event in accordance with rule 79 and Appendix 1.

 3.  ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 It is anticipated that One-Design boats will be divided into the following racing classes: Flying Scot, JY-15, Open Portsmouth, Open Monohull, and Open Portsmouth Multihull.  Cruiser boats will be divided into PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF-Nonspinnaker, and PHRF- Cruiser. These classes may be subdivided if sufficient boats register.

3.2 A minimum of three registered yachts is necessary to constitute a class.

3.3 Cruiser (PHRF) class boats are required to have a current PHRF rating certificate issued by FCSA.

3.4 The skipper or owner (if on board) of each yacht must be a member of:

a. A yacht club, sailing association or community sailing program belonging to the Florida Sailing Association or another US Sailing affiliated sailing association,

b. A yacht club, sailing association, or community sailing program affiliated directly with US Sailing, or

c. First Coast Sailing Association.

  4.  SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

One-Design Boats

SATURDAY 30 August

Registration:                                      10:00-11:45 am

Sailors meeting:                                 12:00 Noon

Warning signal for first class:         1:00 pm

SUNDAY 31 August

Racing continues

Warning signal for first class:          9:00 am 

Cruisers

SUNDAY (Only) 31 August

Registration:                                    11:00 am-12:30 pm

Sailors meeting:                               1:00 pm

Warning signal for first class:       1:55 pm

                                          Sunday’s Cruiser race is not open to One Design Small Boat Categories.

 5.  ADVANCE REGISTRATION

5.1 Yachts may register in advance by downloading the registration form from www.rudderclub.com/races/pdf/regrivcit2001.pdf, completing it, and sending it with the appropriate fees to: Rudder Club of Jacksonville Inc., 8533 Malaga Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073

5.2 Advance registration shall be postmarked no later than 25 August 2003.

6.  ENTRY FEES              $25.00 $20.00 - Entrants with current US Sailing membership card in their possession. Entrance fee is prepaid for Rudder Club members.

7.  SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing instructions will be available after 10:00 am on August 30, 2003 at the Rudder Club.  Changes to this notice, the Sailing Instructions and other schedule changes will be posted on the exterior bulletin board prior to the warning flag of the 1st race of each day.

8.  REGATTA SITE The regatta site will be the Rudder Club of Jacksonville Inc.

9.  RACING AREA The racing area will be in the St. Johns River as depicted on NOAA Chart 11492(11490PF)  between the Buckman Bridge to the south and the Fuller Warren Bridge to the north.

10.  COURSES Courses will be as shown in the Sailing Instructions or provided at the Skippers Meeting.

11.  SCORING The Low‑point Scoring System, Appendix A4 of RRS will apply, except that there will be no throwouts.

12.  PRIZES Prizes will be awarded at the Rudder Club following the event.  First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in classes of more than five finishing yachts.  First and second place prizes will be awarded in classes of four to five finishing yachts.  A first place prize will be awarded in classes of three or less finishing yachts.

13.  FURTHER INFORMATION For further information, please contact the Rudder Club (904) 264-4094. A dinner, open to the skipper and crew, will be held on Saturday at 6:30 pm (approximately). This is part of your registration fee. We ask you indicate to the club manager the numbers of dinners in advance so we may plan accordingly.
